Dr. Jack W. Moorman is a retired Police Chief with over 35 years of law enforcement service. He served with the City of Raleigh (NC) Police Department from 1987 to 2006, where he obtained the rank of Captain.

 

In 2006, he began his service with the North Carolina State University Police Department, retiring as Police Chief in 2019. After retirement, he served for a year as the Interim Chief of Police and Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Safety at North Carolina A&T State University.

 

He also served a year as the Interim Director of Public Safety / Campus Police and Risk Management at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.

 

Dr. Moorman co-chaired the Security Awareness and Compliance Committee of the University of North Carolina System’s Security Initiative Task Force in 2013-2014. In 2014 and again in 2017, he was elected to the Board of Directors for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), serving as the Southeastern Director.

 

He is a graduate of the 267th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and Gavin DeBecker’s Advanced Threat Assessment Academy at UCLA.

 

In 2019, he was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the Governor of NC. He also received the IACLEA President’s Award in 2019.

 

Dr. Moorman is originally from Gladys, Virginia, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Religious Studies. He obtained his Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from NC State University in 2001. He obtained his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from NC State University in 2018.

 

He is currently Interim Chief of Police of North Carolina A&T, is a senior consultant for CriticalArc Inc. and Flock Safety, serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators and serves as an adjunct professor.
