Texas State UPD launches Citizen's Police Academy
The inaugural class of the Texas State University Police Department Citizen's Police Academy began on August 25. The academy is a thirteen week program designed to give the university community a working knowledge of the Texas State University Police Department. Each session consists of weekly classes that meet at the University Police Department. The instruction is comprehensive, each week different units within the department are covered.

Civilian Active Shooter Training
Crime Prevention and the Criminal Justice System
Personnel Safety Education and Krav Maga Self Defense
Taser, Tactical Handcuffing and Police Baton Training
Patrol Procedures and Traffic Stops
Firearms Training
Drug and Alcohol Awareness – DWI POD
CPR and Basic First Aid and 911 Communications
Crime Scene Investigations
Building Searches
